Act Now: Tell the EPA to Address This Harmful Rule

Policy Action Alert

Research indicates that some commonly used chemicals, such as certain herbicides and pesticides, are associated with increased Parkinson's disease (PD) risk. The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) is tasked with regulating chemicals like these that could impact public health. However, a recently proposed rule would restrict the agency's ability to do this job.

To carry out important studies that further our understanding of PD's environmental risk factors, scientists agree to keep the personal health information of research participants confidential. The new rule, proposed by the EPA administrator, would force the agency to consider only those studies where all the underlying raw data is publicly available. This would significantly limit the amount of research the agency could use to regulate chemicals linked to PD, as the many studies that keep participant information private would no longer be available to the EPA.

The agency is accepting public comments on this rule for a limited time. Act today and tell the EPA to strike down this harmful proposal!
